When faced with literal and figurative borders, our ways of interpreting language, gestures, identity, and other parts of the world around us are brought to the surface. Border Maker asks what borders these interpretations themselves create, as the viewer is invited to rearrange wall tiles as a means of interpreting the stream of instructions and hand motions. The meaning created from the viewer’s own interaction with the piece seeks to understand our roles as both crossers and creators of borders.
