Waste Your Breath
2025
Python script, TouchDesigner projection, thermal printer, plastic bags
This installation represents both physical pollution and digital overabundance of personal data as a seaside trash heap of QR stickers. As projection and sound create this sea (and/or screensaver), any speech picked up by the installation is printed and dropped into the pile as another ocean wave is heard. These stickers are often useless, not only because viewers may not know their words will be printed, or because the system may mishear them, but also because they are formatted to be read by a phone rather than a human. At the same time, viewers are naturally invited to take back control: once they understand this process, they are free to generate and keep their own stickers.
